What is personal development (life) coaching?

Personal development coaching is a unique and distinctive profession in which you and I work together to solve problems, reach goals, make decisions, and design a plan of action for that one burning desire in your life. In the process, we keep looking ahead to take advantage of opportunities that are just now formulating.

Typical obstacles that I help clients overcome:

  • Removing negative habit patterns
  • Eliminating destructive self-criticism
  • Overcoming self-limiting beliefs
  • Conquering feelings of fear
  • Reducing tolerations

Typical new attitudes that I help clients establish:

  • Introducing positive, constructive and sound pro-active behavior
  • Creating clearly defined goals
  • Improving productivity and performance
  • Regaining peace of mind
  • Establishing worthy goals and ideals

Why does personal development coaching work?

Coaching works because it brings out the best in you. Through a series of Goal-driven, action-oriented coaching agreements and exercises you and I partner to improve your self-knowledge, increase your self-awareness, and accomplish more than you ever dreamed possible (see testimonials).

Coaching also works because it’s for people who are discontent with their comfort zone and are looking for change. Studies show your comfort zone can be a great enemy. After a while, that’s all you know! You justify, rationalize, and finally accept difficult financial situations, tense relationships, and unfulfilled dreams. One day you wake up to realize you’re spending a lot of negative energy on things that are not adding value to your life. It’s out of balance. What can you do? As your coach, I can help you learn new skills, update old ones, and set expectations that are more realistic.

Who are my clients?

  • My clients are intelligent, able to think for themselves, and interested in a more advanced, effective, and productive state of being.
  • My clients have the courage it takes to make the kinds of changes they know will improve their lives.
  • My clients are able and willing to accept responsibility for change in their lives.
  • My clients know the value of sharing ideas with someone who understands them and is subjective enough to want a lot for them but objective enough not to be biased or self-serving.
  • My clients want stress relief, goal setting, strategic planning, and to overcome negative habits.

How can my personal development techniques help you?

I question you

Effective questions open the door to knowledge and understanding to help you navigate through numerous possibilities to get to specific answers, answers that you have to your own dilemmas, problems, situations, and challenges.

I motivate you

Everyone needs help staying focused and motivated. Therefore, I'll focus on your natural strengths, very often the ones you may take for granted, and we'll develop them further.

I strategize with you

The best strategy is the one that helps you bridge the gap—from where you are now, to where you want to be. Strategizing may include priorities you set for yourself, their visualization, goal-setting to achieve them, and the charting of progress.

I challenge you

There is no failure around a coaching challenge. Look at it as a supportive push that entices you to explore, question, or validate established beliefs in a safe environment. Knowing this support is available can help you regain control over your life and feel better about yourself.

Is my coaching formulaic?

You are a uniquely qualified individual and different from every other person on the planet. Accordingly, my personal development coaching does not follow a prescribed or formulaic process because I recognize that people’s needs and circumstances vary, and timing fluctuates.

What resources can I bring to our coaching sessions?

I bring many available resources to the coaching process, depending upon your personal needs and circumstances (see resume). These concepts, processes, procedures, principles, and/or assessments are drawn from a wide field of behavioral sciences, business management, leadership, the arts and humanities. They are designed to help promote self-awareness, evoke discovery, offer insight, foster shifts in perspective, and energize the creative process.

Why delay any longer? You can change your life right now!
